Difficulty:

Why?
Most of the trails in the Trippet area of Topanga State Park are very easy trails with little to slightly moderate inclines.

Total Gain- 650 ft.

Year around- always make sure to check current weather conditions for the area you will be in.

There is a $10 parking fee, pay at the booth that is open on busy days before entering the parking lot or if its closed pay at the self pay thing in the parking lot. Adventure passes are NOT accepted. There is a ranger station in the parking lot so don't skip out on the parking fee!

Cell Service:
T-Mobile- No service at the parking lot, but I was getting spotty service along all of the trails. Out of all the trails I hiked this day in this canyon, Parker Mesa Overlook got the best cell service.

 Trail Conditions:
The trails in the Trippet Ranch area on Topanga State Park are in excellent condition! no trash anywhere, I think this may have been the first time EVER I didn't notice a single piece of trash on the trails. All the trails are very well marked with signs, making it easy enough to not need trail directions.

Trail Directions:
This whole area has signs all over and trail directions are really not needed, but here are trail directions to Eagle Rock and Eagle Springs Fire Road Loop from Trippet Ranch Parking lot.

From the parking lot take the trail to the right of the gated of section up the dirt road past a house on the right and a visiter center/ house on the left. At the first fork go left, then at the second (two huge signs) go right. Follow the fire road as it winds along the side of the mountains offering amazing views of the ocean and surrounding areas. After about 2 miles the fire road ends at a junction. The trial to the left is the Los Liones trail, the small trail leading off toward the ocean past some trash cans is the trail. Continue along this trail for 0.5 mile more. There are two benches at the end to sit and relax. I did this trail later in the day, I recommend this as a morning trail as it is very exposed. ALSO there are only two benches so SHARE! When I finally got up there and all I wanted to do was sit and enjoy the views. I found that one bench had a couple deeply involved in themselves, and the other bench crammed full of people, PLEASE keep in mind you are NOT the only person on the trails so please be aware of your surroundings!!!

Other Activities:
Hiking
Walking
Trail Running
Mountain Bikes (Bikes are ONLY allowed on fire roads, most trails have no bike signs)
Dog are NOT allowed on trails and fire road in Topanga State Park!!! FOLLOW THE RULES!
Camping (Musch Campgrounds)
Horseback Riding
Picnic/ BBQ

Ranger Information:
Great short hike with minimal elevation gain. The trail is very exposed to the sun and there is limited shade along the trail so make sure to wear a hat and sunscreen! This hike is great for families with young children or for the couples who want a romantic spot overlooking the ocean, just make sure to bring a flashlight and park outside of the gated parking lot if you plan on staying for the sunset.
